‘Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me’ … oh, how times have changed.
Sophie’s passionate reluctance to be on any form of social media is because of this very reason. Too often she has seen her family and friends snapping away with their camera phones and uploading every inch of the personal lives onto Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok … etc. etc. only to be plunged into misery because of trolling. Words DO hurt and they can hurt very badly. Funny, isn’t it, that someone’s comments can have such an impact. Strange that something verbal can hurt twice as much as something physical. For all the amount of confidence, there is an equal amount of vulnerability and insecurity. Compliments are often forgotten but the harsh words remain and, for some, it can be an enormous battle to overcome the damage done.
So what is it about some people that make them say terrible things to deliberately hurt other people? Jealously? Bitterness? Schadenfreude (pleasure derived by someone from another person’s misfortune)? Would it take much to change hurtful to helpful?
What would the world be like if we only had positive messaging? For a start, it would be much more pleasant and we’d all be much kinder to each other. Mental Health would certainly be better. We’d like to think that people would have more confidence – inside and out – which would increase the levels of human authenticity. For those who ascribe to the ‘yin and yang’ theory and the concept of dualism, there is an argument to say that for positive messaging to exist you also need negative messaging. The Arayla London girls are of this exact view but we also feel that there is a huge imbalance. The world needs more positivity and we are collectively responsible for making that happen.
Which is why we LOVE the Arayla brand. Arayla is all about optimism and confidence … YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL, AMAZING and SIMPLY AWESOME. It provides much needed daily affirmation …. YOU ARE PERFECT, JUST AS YOU ARE. It reminds us to encourage and help each other … I’M HERE FOR YOU, ALWAYS. It tells us that everyone deserves happiness and a bit of magic … SMILE, GORGEOUS, GREAT THINGS WILL HAPPEN TODAY.
Every one of the Arayla London girls has her own preferred Arayla Handbag. They are a key part of helping us to be the most confident version of ourselves every day. They are a staple part of our daily uniform (which also includes make-up and great hair) and gives us that kick in our step to make every day count towards a happier life. If even one bag can help to spread a bit of joy for people to pass forward, what a positive difference that would make to the world. So, to all our lovely customers, find that bag that spreads the joy for you. And spread it to others. Let’s make this world a better, more optimistic and hopeful place. Let’s use our words to form positive connections, not drive people apart. Words should never hurt. And we will make it so.
